Jill passed away unexpectedly on Saturday August 3rd.

Jill was born in Redwood City to Dick and Judy Imperiale. She attended Henry Ford Elementary School, Kennedy Jr. High School and Sequoia High School.
While at Sequoia, Jill was an active member of the Future Business Leaders Of America, a cheerleader, and a member of the Sequoia Players Drama Club, starring in several plays. She was Senior Class President and the Class of 1982 Valedictorian.

Jill was a Past Worthy Advisor and holder of the Grand Cross Of Color for Redwood City Assembly #16 Order of the Rainbow for Girls and a member of Jobs Daughters Bethel #170.

Jill attended San Diego State University graduating in 1987. Education was very important to her. She became an elementary school teacher and in 2001 she returned to school and obtained her Masters Degree in Education. At the time of her passing she was a beloved Principal at Gridley Street Elementary in the Los Angeles Unified School District.

Jill married Bill Bowden, another sports junkie, in 1993. She loved her San Francisco Giants and was one of Bruce Springsteen's biggest fans.

Jill is survived by her husband Bill Bowden and their dog Buster, her parents Dick and Judy Imperiale and her brothers Richard and Salad. She was loved by many and will be forever missed.

A memorial service is being planned for Sunday 8/25 in Southern California. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation at www.jrdf.org or the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals at www.ASPCA.org.

My daughter is in the 4th grade now. Ms. Imperiale was always in the school yard welcoming her students. Her enthusiasm was wonderful, for it started the students day with a positive vibe. As a parent, I miss her Sunday evening recordings, reminding us of what was planned in our kids week at school..."gooood evening Gridley Champions..." . A voice so familiar that even my daughter would do a cute impersonation of her. Our family is sorry for your loss.

Jill taught at Brainard when I first started teaching there in 2000. I was impressed by her enthusiasm and love for the children. She was always kind to me and made me feel welcome there. Over the years, I ran into her from time to time and it was always a pleasure. I am so sorry for your loss.

I love this PRETTY smiling FACE!! Jill has performed BON JOVI songs her whole life and has the MOVES and closet to prove it!! 49ers and Giants great choices in Teams. Jill and I were college roommates!! Every day we laughed and cried and laughed. I miss her every day!!!

I am deeply saddened at the loss of Jill. We met at Brainard and we were ahead of our time for Team teaching. Plus we shared our love of Taz, the Niners and Bruce. Bill, I know you lost your best friend. She will be missed by all.

Our sincere condolences to Judy, Dick, Richard, Salad, her husband Bill, all family and friends. I remember watching her when she was just a little girl. Though I haven't seen her in years, I am so pleased to hear of the exceptional woman she became and how loved she has been to so many.

We are so sorry for your loss of Jill. She was just that sweet little girl at Henry Ford when we met her at the time our own Tim and Jill started school there. Truly, it was a lifetime ago, and we knew about how she excelled through her life, even from the Redwood City Tribune articles of those days when we no longer had school connections. I can imagine how proud you must have been of Jill as she continued her climb upward and onward in the education field that was so dear to her. We send our deepest condolences to each and every one of you as you go through this time of such enormous loss, and we pray that your tears can eventually turn to smiles with your remembrances of your many, many joys of life with Jill.
