John Cantley Obituary

John F. Cantley Passed away on October 9, 2008, in South San Francisco. Born to Alex and Nan Cantley in Glasgow, Scotland on September 14, 1931. At age 18, he moved to what became his lifetime home in San Francisco. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marines and served in the Korean War. John was a produce manager in the retail grocery industry for over 40 years. He proudly served as a lay minister at Grace Covenant Church in So. San Francisco for over 10 years. He was also a long time volunteer chaplain at Kaiser Hospital in So. San Francisco. Loving husband of the late Jeanne Cantley; devoted father of Peggy Riley (Ernest), Scott Cantley (Nalani), and Heather Cantley; cherished grandfather of Vanessa and Jared Riley; loving brother of Robert Cantley (Jan); loyal uncle to Robert, Mark, Bonnie and Laurie and their respective spouses and children. John will be missed by his many long time friends and loving family. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service Sat, Oct. 18, 4 pm at Grace Covenant Church, 740 Del Monte Ave., SSF. A reception will immediately follow the service. Memorial donations may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society or The Gideons Int'l.

Mr Cantley will be missed so much. There are so Many decades of memories to cherish. I can remember when he and his late wife Jean kept calling me Novena...way back when and Heather kept correcting them!
