John J. Ignoffo, Sr.

August 16, 1918 to


June 10, 2013


Born in San Jose, California to Joseph and Pietrina (Lima) Ignoffo; brother to Mary (La Rosa), Tony, Antonino (all predeceased) and survived by his brother Sal.


John died peacefully on June 10, 2013 with his family by his side. He lived his life in the Sunset District of San Francisco where he attended Lowell High School and USF. A lifelong sports fan, he starred as a basketball player in high school and college. In 1947, he married Eileen (Herlihy) who preceded him in death in 1987. He was owner of the Sunset Shoe Store on Irving Street for 37 years while raising his sons John Jr. (Linda) and Patrick (Mary Jo). He was a proud grandfather to Graham, Elizabeth, Joey and Lisa.


All are welcome to celebrate the life of John on June 24, 2013. Viewing begins at 9:45am, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30am ALL at St. Anne's Church, 850 Judah St., San Francisco. Committal at Holy Cross Cemetery, 1500 Old Mission Road, Colma. In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation to a charity of your choice in his name.
