August 25, 1934 - May 4, 2016
John Scott MacDaniels, a longtime resident of Palo Alto (but always an east coast man at heart), died on May 4th from a heart attack. He was born in New York State in 1934 to Gertrude and Clarence MacDaniels (both deceased). In 1940 the MacDaniels family moved to Summit, New Jersey where John spent his school years excelling in all sports, with baseball being his favorite. John's fondest memories were of Hemlock and Canandaigua Lakes in Upstate New York where his parents had a cottage. While growing up, all his summers were spent at "the lake."To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.

John was the best boss i have ever had! He was a fair, kind person, and would listen to reason.
I will forever think of him with fondness.
The story i like about him was: one day his car broke down on the freeway... he just left it there on the side of the road and never commuted by car again. He took the train to work every day after that.
I know he will be missed greatly.

Rest in Peace John.. although i never met you, i worked closely with your daughter at Stanford and knew Joan, as well. Dianne remains very special to me, as a long time friend. Wishing the family comfort & solace in remembering the goods they had with your time here on earth, as a husband & father. God Bless..
