I remember John fondly as we shared a teaching task years ago at St. Vincent Nursing school in Toledo. He was always most kind and supportive. My porayers for him, and for you.

I offer my deepest sympathy to John's wife, Marjorie, to John Kevin,James and Michael, on the death of their loving dad, who followed his life's dreams to the full. When Sr. Philomena, Napa, contacted me with the news of his death I had no problem in remembering the man after so many years! And of course I remember J.K. whom I taught in 2nd Grade and prepared you for First Communion! I know you will miss your dad very much as will so many of his friends, but according to what I have read about him he has left you a rich legacy of values and love. May he now enjoy the fruit of his labor in God's Presence. I was privileged to have met John. Sr. Agnes Curran, Chapel Lane, Eyrecourt, Co Galway. Ireland.

John's legacy will live strong in the foundation of family he created with Marge in raising three wonderful boys - JK, Jim and Mike. His smile and deep voice always made me feel at home at 409 Encina, Davis, CA He was always a great listner, story teller and loved having friends and family gather around. When I think of Ireland, I think of John. He has made a lasting impression upon this world. May his soul be at peace. We shall miss him.

It is with a sense of sadness that I have learned of John's death. I offer my sympathy to Marjorie and the boys. I was at St. Apollinaris School, Napa when John Kevin made his First Communion and I remember that Sr. Agnes and I were guests at the Monagle home afterwards for the party.
Of course my memories go much further back to John as pastor of St. Thomas Aquinas and meeting him, his brother James and several Irish priests at the Bishop's annual party for priests and religious in Santa Rosa.
The Obituary notice in the Napa Register certainly sent me down "Memory Lane" as many happy memories of a gracious Irishman came to mind.
If memory serves me correctly, John's roots were in Mayo and I believe that he had a spinning wheel from the old homestead as part of the furniture in his livinf room 'way back'!
You are all in my thoughts and prayers at this time of deep loss.
God bless!

John has raised an amazing family. As a close friend of the boys, I'm grateful for his life's work, spirit and genes he's instilled in his children. Our kinship will remain a living testament to him and this beautiful family.

The Maryknoll Fathers & Brothers are saddened by the news of our friend John Monagle's death. Our prayers are with his family as they come to terms with their loss. Strengthened by our faith in the Resurrectio, we know we will join John again one day. May he rest in peace.
