September 1, 1933 – May 22, 2018
After a life well lived, John James Patridge III said his final goodbye on May 22. He considered himself blessed with love, family, friends and career. John was born in 1933 to Bess Mitchell Patridge and John (Jack) Patridge in Coalinga, California and was followed by his brother and best friend, Joe, fifteen months later. They were raised in San Francisco, attending Aptos Junior High and Lincoln High where they made lifelong friends. John kept himself financially afloat during junior and senior high school delivering the morning paper for The San Francisco Chronicle. To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.

I have many fond memories of growing up in Stockton- but among the brightest would be hanging out with the Patridge family. Being part of their church youth group, going on family trips to their cabin at Donnor Lake, chilling in the kitchen, etc. The death of their Mother Maria when we were 16- rocked me to my core. I have so much respect for Carole and the entire family. I will be there in Stockton tomorrow at Anunnciation to honor your dear Dad.

Two years younger than John, I was his kid neighbor in the 'forties on Bucarelli Drive in San Francisco's Park Merced. Much later we were together again at Hastings College of Law, listening to lectures, or studying on the weekends at the home of one or the other.
I am grateful to have known John, and to have been his friend through the years. He will be in my memory,
with his gentle smile, his kind nature, his modesty and his honest character.
My condolences to all who loved John.
The world has lost a fine man

I met John and Carole when they came to Tai chi class in Portland a few years ago. They were ready to learn something new and they blessed our little group with joy. Our Tai chi group misses John and his smile very much, but we are gifted with Caroles continued presence. May happy memories be present when the grief overwhelms. Prayers of peace and comfort to the family!
