John Spiers Obituary

Kevin Spiers passed away on Thursday, February 11, 2021 after a brave battle with cancer. At the time of his passing, Kevin was surrounded by family at his home in Los Angeles, where he lived for the last few years with his son and daughter-in-law.
Kevin is survived by his mother, Eileen; his wife, Shari; his children, Stephanie (husband, Cameron), Christopher (wife, Jamie), Michelle, and Joseph (wife, Tori); his grandchildren, Andi and Noah; and his siblings, Brendan, Patrick, Kathleen, and Maura. He is predeceased by his father, Liam.
Kevin was born in San Francisco in 1956, the eldest of Liam and Eileen's five children. He grew up in his beloved Sunset District, attending St. Gabriel's Elementary School and Archbishop Riordan High School.
Kevin married his wife Shari in 1985, and together they raised their four children, in Kevin's adopted home, the Excelsior District.
Kevin was a popular and fun-loving man, who loved his family, friends, and life. He grew up playing soccer with his brothers, cousins, and friends, and Kevin would often lead the celebrations--win, lose, or draw. He passed his love of soccer to the next generation of San Franciscans, coaching all four of his kids' teams at St. Stephen's for nearly two decades. Kevin also worked for decades in construction alongside his two brothers, building homes all over the City he loved.
In accordance with Kevin's wishes, all celebrations of his life will be deferred until the event can be held without restrictions. Until then, his family requests that those who knew him raise a glass and share a fond memory.

To Shari and family, I am so very sorry to hear of the loss of Kevin. Shari, you and your family always held and will hold a special place in my heart. Teaching was that much better because of the Spiers family. I always looked forward to visiting with Kevin and you in conferences. Sending Kevin and his loving family prayers and hugs. To the Beautiful Spiers Family,

Shari and family, so sorry to hear of Kevin’s passing. I had the pleasure of knowing him since the Riordan days and again during the St. Stephen Years. I remember him coaching the girl’s in soccer and his sense of humor doing it. Prayers for all of you to help get through this difficult time.

Kevin was a fountain of fun - he loved his wife and family whole heartedly! When he walked into a room he brought joy and that exuberance extended to his children and grandchildren.
