"Mr. Sutherland" was the Corte Madera Boy Scout Troop 24 Scoutmaster for myself, my brother and our friends. Here's a ~1968 photo of Mr. Sutherland welcoming my brother into the Troop.

A great leader and man, and a voice on my shoulder when I was a Scout leader. My best to Kenny and the family.

Dear Jack, Thank you so much for all you did for me and all the scouts of Troop 24, 43, 80, and 90. Your kindness and leadership, that you so freely gave, has long roots throughout this world that has and will continue to bear "good fruit". I would not be the man I am today without your mentoring. You will never be forgotten. Thank you for nurturing this boy into an "Eagle". To Marilyn, Duncan, Bonnie, and Ken, thanks for sharing your father with us.

Jack was a great man. He gave more than he got and he was one of the key reasons why the PC organization is the successful organization that it is today. He helped start many a career in piping and drumming and he will be missed.

Mr Sutherland was scoutmaster for Duncan, me and so many others in Troop 24 for several years. He was terrific as a leader and a mentor. We could not have done any better than him. And I loved seeing him in the Pipe Band! My childhood memories would not be nearly complete without him. My condolences to Marilyn, Duncan, Bonnie and Kenny. And my thanks to Jack Sutherland.

Jack was always a class act. He taught me a lot about promotions and marketing. When he was presented the CA State Parks & Recreation Society Award at an annual conference, he was piped up to the stage. I know he was escorted through the Golden Gates in the same manner. My warmest condolences to all the family, and especially to Marilyn.

You helped shape me as a young piper and I use what I've learned in teaching others... what a legacy! You'll be much missed, Jack.

Dear Sutherland Family,
I remember you all from years ago at Redwoods Presbyterian. Marilyn, you and John raised a wonderful family. I baby sat one weekend years ago for your children, and they were so kind and so smart. I know you will all support and comfort each other during this most difficult time. Linda (McEachern) Wood
