John was one in a billion...a very special person...and a humorist extrodinaire. Once in a while he would reminisce of his adventures...the one's about his bike ride from San Francisco to Alaska were enthralling. One night the rains were so powerful he couldn't ride anymore and had to pitch the tent...he'd just laid down when suddenly something attacked the tent...he whipped out his knife to protect himself thinking it was a bear..the tent ended up in shreds but his life was spared...it was a large branch that had fallen not a bear.
He had a huge voice...we were bike riding and I was riding facing traffic, he on the opposite side...suddenly he yelled "your on the wrong side!!!"...traffic stopped, people were looking around to find were that voice came from because it was loud...there was honking, people getting out of their cars...I never rode with him again.
John loved wearing soft, well worn out white t-shirts...one day I accidentally ripped it...he yelled "STELLA"...
in the middle of the night I'm coming out of the bathroom, it's dark...I look down the hallway and see white coming at me thinking it's a ghost I let out a bloody scream...he leaps up screaming too....jeez, how I miss laughing with this precious person. The best man, a heart of gold, a genuine treasure...
