January 15, 1923 - February 27, 2018
John died at home on February 27, 2018 with his wife, Cyrille, and granddaughter, Sarah at his side. Son of Miriam (Zelinsky) & Milton Weingarten, John was born in San Francisco, attended Stanford University, then served in World War II in the South Pacific and Japan. Returning home, he joined the family business, 'Milton Weingarten Jewelry Co.' He married Rita (Diamond) Weingarten & they had two children, John Milton & Jan (deceased). His second wife, Jean (Wolf Lees) Weingarten, died in 1987. Always a risk taker, John risked flying from Menlo Park to L.A. to meet Cyrille Schiff, the woman with whom he'd fall in love and marry on November 24, 1988. John loved his children, John Milton Weingarten (& Lynn) & Jan Weingarten (deceased), his step-children, Robin Schiff and Tom Schiff (& Sara), and adored his grandchildren (who called him 'Papa John'), Sarah Holloch-Weingarten (& Thomas), Joshua Weingarten, Eric Schiff and Amelia Schiff (deceased). He loved his home, Sunday breakfasts at Brentwood Country Club, Wednesday Santa Monica Farmer's Markets, talking about politics and sports, and of course, the San Francisco 49ers.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.

I only had a few conversations with Mr Weingarten but I'll always remember a kind smile and taking inspiration from those conversations with both John and Cyrille. My condolences to Mrs Cyrille Weingarten, hope all is well with you and your family.
