I met John at Emmanuel Convalescent Home in Sept, 2004. I teach a weekly movement/exercise class there. John was one of the first people that I got to know at Emmanuel. He had a wonderful sense of humor and always brought a smile to my face. He didn't usually take part in the movement activities because he was too busy drawing. I loved to watch his enjoyment in his creations. I told him that I was taking an Art class and he had me bring some of my drawings so he could see them. His compliments on my work meant a lot to me. Even though he didn't usually do the exercises, he did enjoy the music and often sang as we worked out. I will ALWAYS think of him when I hear Elvis' "Are You Lonesome Tonight". He was always a vital part of the class in one way or another. After class, he would sometimes get up and ballroom dance with Rae, one of Emmanuel's Social Directors. That was always a pleasure to watch. His spirit was so much a part of the overall atmoshere of my Wednesday afternoons at Emmanuel. There is a real void there since his passing. I really miss him.
