Jon Antoni Obituary

Jon Frank Antoni
October 21, 1954 - September 16, 2022
Jon Frank Antoni passed away peacefully in his home, surrounded in love and light, on Friday, September 16, 2022. His battle with cancer was one he took on with gusto and courage. Steadfastly striving to recover, he almost always had a sparkle in his eye and a smile on his face. Jon was deeply loved and supported by his family, friends and church. Born in San Francisco on October 21,1954 to Bruno and Okla Antoni, he lived his entire life in the Bay Area. Jon graduated from Lowell High School in 1972 as a National Merit Scholar. He had an exceptional tenure at the San Francisco Chronicle as an accountant for 35+ years. He held a BA from Golden Gate University. He loved baseball and football and was a dedicated SF Giants and 49er fan, attending many home games over the years in support of his favorite teams. He was an avid outdoorsman & competitor. He never gave up fighting for life or wanting to return to the mountains to ski, snowshoe, hike, backpack, camp, cycle, white water raft or golf. His positive outlook on all things provided him with strength and an endless source of vitality to draw from, no matter the challenge. He loved to help people of all sorts and enjoyed participating in intense cycling events to benefit various causes. With a love for animals he volunteered at the Peninsula Humane Society for many years. He was held in a great spiritual community through Unity Church in San Francisco where he regularly attended for decades. He was well cared for and loved by his caregiving team at UCSF, Hospice By the Bay and Laramie Elliott at home, who lovingly ministered to him until the end. He is survived by his aunts Karolyn Chapman and Regina Wright plus a multitude of cousins; his sisters, Gayle Thompson and Judy Montesano; his five loving nieces, Diana Swenson, Rebekah Stoltz-Weeman, Heather Stoltz, Joli Kestano and Gina Regan; his three nephews, Tommy Thompson, Jacob Thompson and Zeph Montesano; his great nieces and nephews, Tristan, Evren, Deniz, Ela, Burleigh, Aliya, Nikko, Ciele, Kiran, Joey, Isabella, Cheryl, and many more from the Thompson and Swanson clan, as well as many lifelong friends and his cat Loki. Jon Frank Antoni was loved by all who knew him and will never be forgotten. His memory will be held in our hearts forever. Jon's kindness, humor and love of life will be an inspiration to us all forevermore. A memorial service for Jon will be held on October 7, 2022 at the Unity Church 2690 Ocean Ave, San Francisco at 12pm, followed by interment at the Italian Cemetery, 540 F Street, Colma, CA (650) 755-1511 at 2pm. Flowers can be sent for the family to The Italian Cemetery. Being a rider for many years with the MS Society and the Waves to Wine fundraisers, the family asks that any donations towards Jon be made in the form of a donation to the MS Society in his name or to the Peninsula Humane Society.

Jon was one of the funniest, kindest, and most generous of men. Family was everything to him.
He was always positive but realistic. After his diagnosis he bought the home he had always wanted. He will be missed.

I'm sorry to see this....another one of us gone from this world...as time moves on we will all pass through it. My twin brother and I attended Portola Jr. High school, then Lowell, with Jon. It's been decades since I've seen him, but some of our group from school days remain connected through Facebook, and some have lost touch....he was a wonderful person, even as a teenager. My deepest condolences go to you, his loved ones. I've added a photo from one of our summer parties between Junior High and High School. If I'm not mistaken, I've identified Jon, all of us age 14, at the time.

My Uncle Jon was the kindest, most honest and adventerous person I know. He loved those who had the joy of having him in their path. He taught me a love of nature and the outdoors with adventures throughout CA. We would river raft, camp, hike, ski. No matter what life threw at us he always kept a postive attitude. I am so grateful to have had him my entire life. May you rest in peace my sweet wonderful Uncle.
