Joseph DiPietro Obituary

Joseph DiPietro
July 11, 1962 - May 18, 2022
Joseph L DiPietro Jr was born in 1962 to Laura Joseph L DiPietro Sr at Fitzgerald Mercy Hospital in Darby, PA. He died in May 2022 at his home in Oakland, CA.
He was a 1984 graduate of University of Pittsburgh. He attended Villanova Law School, where her earned his JD in 1987.
He worked as an editor and presenter for the American Law Institute for 32 years. He was a pioneer in remote work when he relocated from Philadelphia to Oakland in 2005.
He met the love of his life, Theresa Soder LaQuey in 2004 at the Art Deco Society of California Legion of Honor. He became active in the Society, advocating for awareness and preservation of architecture, art, music and design of the Era. He served as President from 2011-14, breathing new life into the organization as newsletter editor, speaker, and Ambassador.
He was well known for his impeccable and period correct fashion sense, owning an extensive wardrobe including coordinated ties and pocket squares, many pieces hand made by Theresa.
Joe was a classic car afficionado, owning a 1937 Buick Century, 1934 DeSoto Airflow, and 1937 Oldsmobile.
Joe did not sing, dance or play and instrument but was the consummate showman. He could work the podium or glad-hand a room like no other. He was fiercely loyal to family and friends.
Memorial contributions may be made in his honor to Southern California Dachshund Rescue at scdr.org.
