Joyce Corcia was born in Newark, New Jersey on March 1, 1938. Joseph & Elizabeth Stripko were her parents. Joyce had a sister called Patricia who was married to James Poggioli and a nephew James Poggoli. Joyce graduated from St. Michael's High School in Newark, New Jersey in 1956. Joyce furthered her education by going to a school for Medical Technology at Lyons Institute.
Joyce began her career employed at Blue Cross/Blue Shield in Newark, New Jersey as a claims analyst. Then Joyce worked in the same category at Great American Insurance Company for many years. When Joyce's husband, Vito Corcia, obtained a job promotion and was transferred to San Francisco, Joyce eagerly packed up the house and moved to her new location. In fact, Joyce encouraged her husband to take the job transfer. Joyce was a great companion to her husband in so far as they did everything together.
Joyce then continued on into her claims career by working for local medical insurance companies in the San Francisco Bay Area. But Joyce then went to work for I.S.B.D. Inc. which is the medical claims unit for I.B.E.W. local 6 Electrical Workers Union. After working in this position for many years Joyce retired from the medical claims industry.
In her retirement Joyce began to prepare meals from European countries like Germany, France, Portugal, Spain, Greece, and Italy. Her favorite food products were of the Italian variety. Joyce enjoyed cooking to a point where she has in her kitchen all the food preparation equipment she needs so she can prepare anything she desires.
Friends may visit at 10AM with the funeral Mass at 11AM on Tuesday September 12, 2023 at St. Anne's Church, 850 Judah St, SF. Joyce will be laid to rest immediately after the mass at Holy Cross Cemetery, 1500 Mission Rd. Colma.
