Judith Rehfeld Obituary

Judith Rehfeld
01/14/1957 - 08/10/2024
Judith Haas Stein Rehfeld died suddenly at home from a ruptured brain aneurysm on August 10th, 2024, in Ventura, California, at age 67.
Born in San Francisco to Frances Lilienthal Stein and Laurence Stein, Judy attended Burke's, Branson, and the University of Puget Sound, graduating with a double major in French and International Relations with a minor in Spanish. Raised in a Jewish home, she became a Christian in college.
Marrying Joseph Rehfeld shortly after graduation, they celebrated their wedding at her family home, the Haas-Lilienthal House. She worked as an executive assistant for several tech companies including Microsoft prior to staying home to raise three boys. She loved cooking and baking and always had a freezer full of chocolate-chip cookies. She quickly established their house as a loving, welcoming home. This was true throughout her time in Seattle, Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, and Ventura.
Judy loved Jesus and studying and teaching the Bible. She was a mentor to many and volunteered at church and local elementary schools, teaching Spanish and English as a Second Language. She was involved for seven years on the Parents Council at Westmont College.
Judy was predeceased by her son Jeffrey and is survived by Joe Rehfeld, her husband of nearly 45 years, sons Jason (Roxanne) Rehfeld, and Jimmy (Abi) Rehfeld, and grandson Levi Rehfeld.
Memorial gifts may be made to the Jeffrey Rehfeld Memorial Scholarship at Westmont College or the Keller Center for Cultural Apologetics at the Gospel Coalition.

May the love of friends and family carry you through your grief. I will always think of her as a bright, energetic and loving pledge sister!

Dear Joe, Jason, and Jimmy,
I attended Burke´s and Katherine Branson with Judy.
She and her parents welcomed me into their home and when I repeated the Sixth Grade and joined her class she welcomed me and made me feel so blessed to know her and her family. We spent many happy times in Nicosia together. Her mother´s cousin John , my father´s dear friend since grammar school years, was my Episcopal Godfather and the whole Lilienthal family were good friends of my family´s. Ann Gaver had been a classmate of mine and we joined KBS as students along with other Haber´s .
I will miss her positive spirit, her smile remains in my memory, and the love she and her parents shared with me will remain in my heart and memory.
I am so sorry for your loss.
After my husband passed away suddenly as well, a friend shared a very wonderful book with me that helped me immensely. I read it every day and still read it. It´s called `Healing after Loss´ by Martha Hickman. It has lovely quotes and daily meditations that help with the most trying times ahead. It brought me peace.
You lived a good life with her. It´s important to remember the good times and happy memories, they will get you through the dark days when you´re low. There is a sunny time ahead, be good to yourselves and love yourself. God who is always with us will keep you enveloped in love.
With gratitude for having had Judy in my life,
Lucy Kent Maushardt
PS, I´m so sorry I was unable to attend the service which I know was full of love and grace.

Judy was a truly endearing and amazing person. Her love for Jesus shone brightly in every aspect of her life. I am one of the many blessed to have received gifts of her scrumptious chocolate-chip cookies. Judy is deeply missed by all our family, the Craigheads.
