Judy D. Holmes, passed away peacefully at her home after a brief illness. She was born in Albany, CA to parents Madeline, and Robert, and was raised along with siblings Pamela and Robert Jr.. She was a graduate of Albany High School, where she met future husband Melvin, with whom she would have three daughters. She lived in Albany her entire life.
After her children left the nest, Judy took a job at the local needlepoint shop; Skein Lane in El Cerrito. She worked there first as a clerk, and then as a needlepoint instructor, forging lifelong friendships at the same time. Judy was also a friend to many rescue dogs in her senior years.
She is survived by her three daughters, Melissa N. Holmes (Sean Stephens) of El Cerrito; Melinda A. Hoff (Thomas Hoff) of Carlsbad, CA and Michelle Holmes (Lance Salisbury) of Redwood City, CA; Grandson Kyle Hoff of San Luis Obispo and Granddaughter Isabelle Hoff of Flagstaff, AZ. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her sister and brother. She will be missed by all those that knew and loved her. Private burial services will be held at Sunset View Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CorgiAid (Seattle WA) or Berkeley Humane Society.
