Judy Morris Obituary

Judy A. Morris
01/13/1942 - 08/15/2024
Judy A. Morris was born January 13, 1942, and passed away after a brief but intense battle with cancer on August 15, 2024.
Judy was a life-long San Franciscan in the fullest sense. She was born during the War years to Josephine O'Leary Morris and James Lawrence Morris, joining her older brother, Jim. Soon thereafter, brother "baby" Jerry joined to complete the family.
The family lived in St. Cecilia's parish, of which Judy remained a member all her life. After attending St. Cecilia's elementary school, she graduated from Mercy High School in 1960. Upon graduation, Judy began at Hibernia Bank, where she would work for 30 years. Her house was full of stuffed Hibernia leprechauns the entire time. After switching banks for a few years, she began a new part of her career as a Communications Administrator for the Archdiocese of San Francisco from 1996 until 2008, finally entering well-earned retirement.
Judy was a dedicated parishioner of St. Cecilia's, serving as a Eucharistic minister, lector, member of the League of the Sacred Heart, and hub of many social and spiritual activities.
Outside of church, Judy had many loves and interests. She loved donuts, preferably chocolate. She loved her family, and she was the center of distribution for information about everyone near and far. Her datebook was filled with innumerable birthdays and anniversaries, and she never failed to send a card or note of congratulations to the day's honoree. She had more Godchildren than can be counted accurately. She was a life-long companion for her mother, and lovingly took care of Jo in her declining years. She adored her brother Jim, and coordinated his care when he declined as well.
She loved Christmas. She had more Hallmark ornaments and decorations than the Hallmark Visitor's Center in Kansas City. She loved donuts, did we mention that? She loved mystery novels and television shows, especially if the crime was being investigated by a member of the clergy. She loved See's candy, and it was her go-to gift for anyone celebrating the aforementioned special occasions. She always made sure to treat her co-workers with kindness and respect, and brought them donuts. She was an avid sports fan, particularly of the 49ers. In her younger days, she bowled, and bowled well. She loved Disneyland and Disney movies. But she was old-school: E-Tickets and Cinderella for her. She enjoyed traveling, and took many fun trips with her cousin Kathy.
Judy was the loving daughter of the late James L. Morris and Josephine O'Leary Morris; loving granddaughter of the late Margaret and Humphrey O'Leary and Margaret and Frank Morris; loving sister of Rev. James H. Morris and Jerrold L. Morris; loving sister-in-law of Theodora Morris; loving aunt of Sean O'Leary Morris (Kristy Morris); loving great aunt of Rose, Kyra and Zoey Morris; loving cousin of Peter and Donald Santina, Barbara Striek, Nanci Nugent and William Greggains, Michael Cook, Patti Cook Oliver and Brian Cook, Joan Futscher, Jean Meersman, Kathy Theofel and John Futscher, Donna, Lauren and Janet O'Leary, Gregory Mangan and Robert Mangan, Ellen Eggen, Peggy Jensen and Neil O'Leary, Michael Murphy, Maureen Cooper and Marion Sullivan, and MaryJo Muyos.
The family would like to thank Carolina Rodriguez for the loving care she provided Judy in her final days.
Friends and family are invited to attend the Vigil Service on Tuesday, August 20 at 7 pm at St. Cecilia Church, 2555 17th Avenue, San Francisco. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, August 21 at 10:30 am, also at St. Cecilia Church. Committal at Holy Cross Cemetery, Colma.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Msgr. Collins St. Cecilia School Fund Saint Cecilia Catholic Church: Online Giving.
