Julie Ann Wycoff Rogers

Julie Rogers Obituary

Julie Ann Wycoff Rogers March 27, 1958 - January 31, 2006 Julie Ann Wycoff Rogers passed away on January 31, 2006. Her beloved husband, Paul R. Rogers, passed away the same day at their El Cerrito home. They are survived by their three children, Eric, Alexander, and Laurel. Julie's parents, Ed and Rosalie Wycoff, and her sister, Debbie Wycoff, preceded her in death. Julie grew up in Citrus Heights, CA, where she graduated from San Juan High School in 1976. She received her undergraduate degree in rhetoric at U.C. Davis, and J.D. in 1986 at Golden Gate University School of Law in SF, where she served on the Women's Law Review. She is remembered by her classmates as vivacious, enthusiastic, tremendously energetic, and always ready to volunteer. Julie practiced law briefly, and then used her legal education to inform her service with the El Cerrito Planning Commission, and in local election campaigns. Julie was an avid outdoorswoman and athlete. She was passionate about running, and participated in marathons for charity and personal challenge, which inspired many of her friends to begin running. Her favorite places to run were near her home in Wildcat Canyon and in Tilden Park, places where she also volunteered as trail patrol. Julie was a member of the El Cerrito Garden Club and the Oakland Ski Club. Julie loved the outdoors, and some of her happiest times were spent backpacking and snowboarding with her family. She was passionate about nature, the environment, and ecology. Julie loved to travel; she and her family took many trips throughout the world. She and her husband Paul traveled extensively throughout Asia, and were particularly attracted to its art, culture, and philosophies. Julie's family was the most important thing in the world to her. She lovingly and thoughtfully cared for her extended family, but most of all she was a devoted wife to her beloved husband Paul, and an extremely loving, dedicated, and devoted mother to her three children. Her friends and extended family remember her as being generous with her time and a good and caring friend to many; always ready with her beautiful smile. A Memorial Service for Julie and Paul Rogers will be held Friday, Feb. 17th, 2006, at 1:00 pm, Unitarian Universalist Church of Berkeley in Kensington. For information and directions, please go to www.uucb.org or the Rogers & Meador web site, www.rmbcal.com. In lieu of flowers, contributions for the Rogers' children can be sent to the Rogers Family Memorial Fund, account number 4086-7846, Mechanics Bank, 9996 San Pablo Ave., El Cerrito, CA 94530.

My dad and I had met Julie at her Aunt Lu's house in Sacramento. We we were really upset when we found out. She was just a wonderful person. Our hearts and thoughts go out to the family during this time. Tammy and Ken Erwin

I grew up with Julie on Park Drive in Citrus Heights. We were very young (I moved when we were about 12) But I remember her as a very good friend back then. I will pray for her and her family.

I was so saddened when I heard of Julies' death. I lived 3 houses from Julie as we were growing up. We went to school together and graduated from San Juan High School in 1976. Looking back I remember Julie as being a kind, sweet and caring person. I described her to my husband as being a Saint. She was upbeat and a joy to be around, never saying anything bad or negative about anyone or anything. Such a sad thing that such a wonderful persons life would end so tragically. My heart goes out to her children. God Bless......
