I am in total shock as the year is 2021 and I am just learning that one of my best childhood girlfriends, Katie, has passed away. I never knew the adult Katie but rather the bright eyed young girl and teenager with the beautiful long blonde hair. We went through school together and roamed the hills in Del Mar back and forth from out two houses. Laughing, playing, sharing secrets and dreams. She was a beautiful soul who deserved a much longer life. I have thought about her often over the years and she will always have a place in my heart.

I met Kate in 2005 for business reasons. Since then we worked together on several projects across the ocean. She was my "precious contact" in the U.S.West coast. Although she was a reserved person we established a strong human relationship. All our messages always ended with a little update note on our private life. I saw her last October in Florence my hometown and certainly hers second. I will always remember that sunnyday talking with her about the future, plans, family, travels strolling in the Santo Spirito downtown area that she loved so much! Will always miss you Suzanne Mauduit, Florence, Italy.

Kate was beautiful, smart, charismatic, and genuinely cared about giving back to people less fortunate than herself. I had the pleasure of meeting and working with her when I was the Program Manager at A Miner Miracle. She was always excited to hear about our next event, fundraiser, store opening, and always willing to contribute her time and money to the cause. I am saddened by the news of her death. - Aria Zuloaga

I never met Kate, but often heard her step mother talk of her recent adventures… My heart goes out to the family. There is something about a sister’s loss that never makes sense. There are no words for such a loss.

This is just so tragic. I want to send my heart felt sympathy to Kate's family. I know Eileen and if Kate was anything like Eileen than we have all lost someone special in the world.

You grabbed my arm as I ran by "Aren't you Erica Sandberg, from Torrey Pines?" We stopped and chatted. Such a smile you had! You insisted we get together. And we did. We became friends, long after high school. I admired you, Kate. You were so open and candid. You made me want to help you because you were so damn passionate about your causes.

I will never forget you.

From the moment I met you, I knew we were not only destined to work together (on the launch party and upcoming events), but to be friends. I was floored by your passion and zeal for life, your zest for opening new doors, your humble spirit, and your generous heart. Your radiant smile could light and warm any room...and it did!! You are sorely missed. My thoughts and prayers are with the family. - (Academy of Art University)

The grief we feel is not for the spirit of the wonderful and gracious individual that was stolen from us. It is actually the void her absence has left in our own lives that causes such terrible sorrow. Katie was all about absolute vision, pure and indefinable. She was an almost magic presence, to be near her was always memorable. I will always remember her from the time we were classmates at Earl Warren Junior High in Solana Beach, CA. The times spent we spent as family will always be among my most fondest and enduring memories.

I miss you so much Katie. I haven't spoken with you for years. I knew you back home in Del Mar. I wish I had a chance to talk to you once more...

We all love you and miss you. Thanks for gracing our lives while you were here.

I am in shock over this news... I cannot believe it. I just can't get my head around it. I haven't spoken to Kate in a few months, but I've thought of her often. Was looking forward to meeting up with her in the near future. Now, that can never happen again. I am SO SAD right now. My deepest sympathies go out to Kate's family & everyone who knew her. I will miss you, Kate.
