Kirk Hanson Obituary

Kirk John Hanson Kirk was born in San Francisco on New Years Eve 1958. He died Thanksgiving Day November 26th 2009 -- 50 years that passed too quickly. He left us only six days after being told that cancer was about to take his life. Kirk showed us more courage than the rest of our family combined. We rallied around him in loving support, hiding our disbelief and fear that we were losing our tall, blue-eyed son, brother, uncle, friend. Kirk was a smart, good, kind and generous person. He lived in Larkspur, and worked in construction, with many friends both in that business and out. In the family tradition, he was a fisherman. Still struggling with his loss are his parents, Jack Hanson and Joan Hoerner, his brothers, Craig and Jack, sister-in-law Maria, niece Laura, and Pauline Hanson, Elizabeth Fairbanks, Jennifer, Annika, Lindsay, Max and Elliott. All have felt our loss and have been of enormous help and support through this impossible time in our lives. Kirk, if you are in Heaven reading this, remember we love you, and that we will always hold a special place in our hearts just for you... Private family services will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Kirk's memory to the American Cancer Society.

My prayers are with his family! I knew Kirk while growing up in S.F. and then in Marin when we were just teenagers. I had alot of good times with him. He was there in the bad times too, as any good friend would be. He was the best man in my first wedding. He loved his family good friends and fishing. May he be fishing for the big one in heaven!

I will miss you terribly Kirk. You have always been there for me. Anytime I was stranded you would come pick me up, if I needed a place to stay you'd open your doors. I love you.

I saw and talked with Kirk three weeks ago and he displayed the same "curt" humor which was him. He was happy that I was putting my life together and flashed his smile and headed to the Peso. Thank's Kurt for getting me into The Marin Rod and Gun Club and being my friend.

I still cannot believe Kirk is gone. I have seen him practically every day for the last 8 years. I will miss him and the fun we had together with our friend Deanise. I thank God you did not linger in pain and that where you are right now is filled with lakes and oceans full of fish, plenty of sunshine, and loads of laughter.
