LaVerne Willers Obituary

LaVerne Antoinette Willers

Oct 29, 1939-Apr 17, 2015

LaVerne Antoinette (Toboni) Willers, remembered by her loved ones and family as "Lovey," went home to God on Friday morning, April 17, 2015.

LaVerne, widowed to Edward Henry Willers (died October 21, 2013) leaves behind; her son, Edward Henry Willers Jr. and wife Patti (Nuno) Willers; her son Kenneth Joseph Willers and companion Barry Gremban; her daughter Deborah Rose (Willers) Blanchard and her husband Timothy Blanchard; her grandchildren Jennifer Leigh Willers, Benjamin Michael Willers and Michelle Rose Blanchard; her great granddaughter, Jada Leigh Machado; her siblings Lawrence Toboni (Georgina), Sheila Stratos (Robert) and Joseph Toboni (Mary); her in-laws, William and Deanne Willers; her cousins Patty (John) McNichols, Carol (Pat) and Raymond (Alma); her nephews and nieces, William Jr., Ann Marie, Marc Anthony; Vera, Lawrence and John Paul, Michael, Gianna, Joseph, Paul and Jacqueline; grand nieces and nephew Marina Marie, Georgina, Remy and Louis James.
Born on October 29, 1939 to Joseph Toboni and Elba (Mascarello) Toboni, LaVerne was a lifelong resident of San Francisco.
LaVerne's early years and young adolescence was not without challenge. At the age of ten LaVerne lost her mother to cancer. After her father's marriage to Rose Toboni (Biasion) of six years, LaVerne, at the age of 16, experienced the sudden death of her father, Joseph. LaVerne would graduate from Mercy High School, SF in 1957 and go on to attend SF State College. During those years LaVerne would be meet the man she would be married to for 55 years.
On June 14, 1958 LaVerne would marry Edward Henry Willers. Her son Edward Jr. was born in 1959 and her twins, Kenneth and Deborah were born in 1961.
At the age of twenty-two LaVerne was married with three children. LaVerne stayed home with her children until 1967 when medical bills and the desire to send her children to Catholic school motivated LaVerne to find employment. LaVerne was hired at Bank of America and took on the graveyard shift so she would be home with her children during the day. LaVerne work nights until 1978 and would retire from Bank of America as AVP of Operations in 2003, after 36 years of service.
LaVerne loved her grandchildren Jenny, Benny and Michelle. LaVerne delighted and took comfort in being able to live with her daughter Deborah, son-in-law, Timothy and granddaughter, Michelle until her passing. LaVerne enjoyed cooking and would enrich every holiday meal with her pasta sauce, meatballs and sausages to the pleasure of all her family. LaVerne enjoyed her conversations on the phone updating everyone on what was going on in the family. LaVerne's first question to her children when she would call them was, "Whatcha you doing?" Evenings for many in the family will not be same knowing that that phone call will not be coming.
For the past six years LaVerne was living with kidney failure and needed to receive dialysis treatment three times a week. Her sciatica and back pain made her ability to walk challenging although LaVerne made every effort to go to dialysis by driving herself and retaining as much independence as possible. Compared to these physical challenges the loss of her husband Edward in 2013 was the most painful of all. LaVerne once said to her children, "The hardest thing for me is being alone. Now, when I come home from dialysis, there is no one waiting for me."
'Mom,' your children want you to know, that we will miss you very much but where you're going 'Dad' is waiting and he's been longing to say you, "Welcome Home, Lovey."
Friends may visit after 4:00PM and are also invited to attend the Memorial Service at 7:00PM all on Wednesday, April 22 at the Chapels of Valente Marini Perata and Co., 4840 Mission Street, SF, where services will conclude. Online condolences may be offered at www.vmpandco. com

Eddie, Kenny and Debbie,Patti, Barry and Tim, I loved your Mom she was always so nice to me. I remember all the conversations we had at parties and family gatherings and I can see her expression and hear her laughter as I joked with her about cooking me dinner! But she said she would! I know how hard this is for all of you right now, just keep close to each other its important! She's in paradise now. Jenny, Ben, Michelle and Jada...she will always be with you!

My dear cousin Lovey was such a marvelous example of living life with a positive attitude no matter what came her way. She always had a smaile and a good word. She and Eddie raised 3 wonderful kids who are continuing their parents' legacy. God Bless you all and may your memories of your Mom and Grandmother sustain you all.
