Lawrence Danos Obituary

Lawrence Edward Danos
01/08/1942 - 05/27/2025
Lawrence Edward Danos, beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully at his home in San Francisco, on May 27, 2025, at the age of 83.
Larry was born January 8, 1942, in Thibodaux, Louisiana, to parents Louis Arthur Danos and Marjorie Ketteringham Danos. He was one of five siblings and leaves behind his sister, Katherine D. Morris, and many nieces and nephews.
Larry earned a degree in geology from Florida State University and later studied business, computer science, and environmental management in the Bay Area.
He served in the U.S. Army as a German interpreter and spent much of his career with the Environmental Protection Agency, where he was devoted to environmental issues facing the world today. Larry also volunteered with Habitat for Humanity, wildlife rehabilitation, the Unitarian Universalist church, and local disaster and recycling programs.
An avid reader and bird watcher, Larry will be remembered for his curiosity, service, activism, and love of the natural world.
A memorial service will be held at the First Unitarian Universalist Society of San Francisco at 1:00 pm on September 13, 2025. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the Environmental Defense Fund or First Unitarian Universalist Society of San Francisco.

Yesterday

I meant Larry one time when in Covington La. What a nice kind person he was. Larry and brother Bob were just nice to be around. Kathy was so lucky to have such brothers. How glad that I knew them both. We need more people like this in this old world. I know that the Big Guy up there stock went up big when they arrived.
