Lillian DelBarrio Obituary

Lillian DelBarrio Taken from us unexpectedly on Tuesday, August 28, 2007. "Amorcito" to her loving husband of 58 years, Ernesto, she will be devotedly remembered by her son George DelBarrio and his wife Donna DelBarrio; son, Ernesto DelBarrio, Jr. and his wife Alma DelBarrio; daughter, Lillian DelBarrio Bray and her husband William Bray; son, Ricardo DelBarrio and niece, Beverly Hayon. She will also be deeply missed by her loving grandchildren Christina, Alex, Debbie, Anthony and her grand-niece Sarah, as well as her large extended family and friends in both the United States and El Salvador. A devout Catholic, Lillian came to this country from her native El Salvador 60 years ago and met the love of her life, Ernesto. From that day forward, with unequalled love and devotion, she grew to become the matriarch of a family that now spans two countries and three generations. If fulfillment can be measured by the amount of life and love that one person brings to this world, there can be no one who is entitled to more than this wonderful woman. We are your family, Lillian and we will forever carry your love with us in our hearts. A Memorial Service will be held at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 40th and Balboa in San Francisco, on Friday, August 31, 2007 at 3:30pm.

I remember Mrs. DelBarrio from St. Thomas Grammar school days when Lil had a slumber party over their house on 36th Avenue. She was so nice to all of us loud kids playing downstairs. I'm so sorry to hear she has left this earth. My sincere condolences to the family.

I personally met Lillian and Ernesto when my Cuban husband arrived here in the States and my mother (Yolanda Romero Daglio) introduced us all to each other. My mother was an old friend of Lillian dating way back to the day in El Salvador. She and mom also were devoted card-game players when time permited. Lillian and Ernesto were/are the definition of grace and dignity. Devoted to each other. The world is a better place for their having been here.

Mrs. DelBarrio was a warm, kind, and gracious woman, and certainly one of the "cool" moms in our St. Thomas class of 1967. I will always remember her rather skillful dancing at Lillian & BIll's wedding.

My sincere sympathies to the DelBarrio family

Dear Lilli and family, I am very sorry to hear about the loss of your mother/grandmother. She was a very nice person. I remember babysitting "baby" Christina at her beautiful home a few times and she was always gracious, kind, and fun to talk to. I am sorry we cannot be at the services, but know that you are in our thoughts and prayers. Love, Chris, Jen, Sam, Jack, Dan, and Matt Goyeau
