Linda O'Connor Obituary

Linda Ann O'Connor
11/02/1957 - 07/17/2025
Linda O'Connor was born in San Jose and was briefly in danger of being named after her father's favorite 49er, Yelberton Abraham Tittle. Her father was overruled by her mother Lorraine, who thought the name "Linda" would be more appropriate. Linda grew up in Cupertino and graduated from Cupertino High, class of 1976. She got a part-time job at a local donut shop, which inspired her to sample every type of donut in a single shift. It became clear that Linda didn't shy away from having fun.
After graduating from De Anza and San Jose State, Linda used her degrees in Graphic Design and Photography to find work at Atari, designing packaging for a variety of games. She went on to work at Inmac, eventually becoming an Art Director for the company's catalog.
Linda moved up to San Francisco and started a family. Linda went on to spend long, enjoyable hours volunteering at the Glen Ridge Co-op and Rooftop, making lifetime friends along the way.
A life long learner, at age 54 Linda signed up for classes at CCSF to improve her swimming skills. She soon became a member of the swim team and waterpolo teams, continuing until her diagnosis. Sports had always been important to Linda, playing volleyball, basketball, and softball in intramural leagues her whole adult life. Swimming and waterpolo held a special place for Linda. She cherished the relationships she formed with the girls on the team. Her time on these teams brought her so much joy.
In November of 2023, Linda was diagnosed with GlioBlastoma, a fast-growing, aggressive brain tumor. She fought it to the end-braving it thanks to her strength, family, and friends. Those who knew Linda have lost a wonderful friend, and as some have said, "Linda felt like home."

Earlier today

I was privileged to work with Linda at Inmac from 1986 to 1993. It was a great time for both of us. I learned that she grew up in my Cupertino neighborhood, and after she moved to SF she often returned to visit her father. We would meet up in Wilson Park with our dogs.
