Lorraine passed away peacefully in San Francisco on May 9, 2022. Lorraine was born June 20, 1926, in Killdeer, North Dakota, to Frank and Emilia Cleveland. When the depression hit hardest in 1942, her family moved to San Francisco, where Lorraine and her twin sister, Lorrette, graduated from Mission High School and attended City College. At the young age of 19, the Cleveland Twins began touring with the USO, playing ukulele and piano, singing and entertaining throughout the United States. While playing the Aleutian Islands, Lorraine met the love of her life, Joseph Holmes. They were soon married and had two children: Pamela and David. Lorraine was a dedicated professional, working her way through the ranks at Chevron for over 30 years, retiring as Supervisor of Office Services for COFRC in La Habra, California. Lorraine enjoyed retirement alongside Joe and Lorrette, traveling extensively throughout Europe. She remained active in the Chevron Retirees Association and newsletter publication, sang in her church choir, volunteered in community activities, and generously gave her time and love to her immediate as well as extended family. Lorraine was a vivacious lady, the matriarch of her family and a guiding light to all who were lucky enough to know her. She will be deeply missed. Lorraine was predeceased by her husband of more than seventy years, Joe Holmes; by her sisters, Lorrette and Milly, and brothers Dwinell and Wally. Lorraine is survived by her children Pamela Frese and David Holmes; grandsons Bart, Bret, and Joe; great-grandchildren Declan, Maya and Agustina; as well as many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. A memorial service will be held on July 16 at 2:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Burlingame.
