Louis left this earthly life peacefully in the early hours of September 8, 2013. He was born on October 20, 1938 to Mary and Louis Krajacich. The surname was later changed to Kray. The family lore includes many entertaining stories about Louis' fun and mischievous adventures with his brother and cousin while they were growing up in San Bernardino, California.
Louis was blessed with many talents and accomplishments. After attending public schools in San Bernardino, he went on to earn his Doctorate in Chemistry from UC Riverside. His Post Doctoral work at the UC San Francisco School of Pharmacy was followed by a long, productive career with Chevron as a Research Chemist. He has many patents in his name in the U.S. and the U.K. He also has many published research papers.
Louis was also a gifted musician whose love of music brought great joy to all. He played the piano majestically. Many of us had the pleasure of listening to his renditions of pieces from the classics to ragtime for hours on end. He provided a wonderful backdrop of music in our home.
In his spare time, Louis spent many hours rebuilding cars and houses and repairing anything that needed fixing. He was also a great cook. Louis and Bettye loved cooking together. The more complex the recipe, the more fun they had.
Those around him have enjoyed his wise, witty, dry sense of humor. A humble, unassuming man of few words, whatever he said was profound or hysterically funny.
A devoted family man, Louis leaves behind his loving wife Bettye, five children, Karak, Roger (Felicia), Robert, Ann (Alan), Katherine, four grand children, Heidi, Mykela, Kyle, Jordan, one great grandson, Sean, brother William (Helga), sister Mary (Nick), many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
A Memorial Service will be held on his birthday, October 20, 2013, at 1:00 PM, at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, One Wellbrock Heights, San Rafael, CA 94903.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Hospice By The Bay, or Aldersgate United Methodist Church.

Grandpa, whenever you spoke your words were never wasted or unnecessary. You were always so intelligent and quick witted with your humor that just a simple sentence or word would have me rolling in laughter.
You had such a commanding presence, in conversation no one interrupted you because everyone had so much respect for you and what you had to say. You could quite a whole room of adults and children with just your captivating presence and voice.
Thank you for always listening to my youthful ramblings with a loving smile. Thank you for all of your love and attention over the years, the best gifts a grandfather can give. I love you so much.

Louis was one of Chevron's best fuel and lubricant chemists. He had a long and distinguished career. I was privileged to work with him in a number of capacities. He was in the dinner party when I interviewed Chevron in 1969. May he rest in peace.
