I am sorry this is so after-the-fact, but I just saw the notice posted on Facebook. Mrs. Jachetta was my favorite teacher. She taught Social Studies at Star of the Sea Elementary school when I was new in 8th grade with a bunch of kids who had grown up together. Her class was the bright spot of the day. She was funny, she was fierce, she was thought-provoking, and she expected the best from us. I became a history major in part because of her, and am now a museum curator. She had a great impact on so many students. I wish I had thanked her in person.

Dear Jachetta Family,
I have so many fond memories of growing up next door to Joe and Lucy. I will always remember them for the sweet and kind people that they were. Rest in Peace Lucy. Give Joe a big hug for me. Thanks for putting up with us.

Linda,
I remember you from Jomar when we were all in HS. I will keep your family in my prayers. My Mom (91) passed away in April in MV, and I miss her daily. Jomar and I had planned to travel together to Italy as old ladies, but that wont be possible now that she is gone too. Take care! I will be a Nonnie in a week so life goes on...

I spent many a night at the Jachetta home during my high school years, with Rosanna. The things we did and what Lucy put up with....the pool parties...kids in and out of the house..she was always lovely. The raking of the shag rug was a favorite chore she bestowed on Rosanna....I'd laugh every time. And over the years as I grew up, I was fortunate enough to share an adult relationship, she will be deeply missed, as is Joe. My thoughts are with you Rosanna and ALL of your lovely family.

I had Mrs. Jachetta as my 6th grade teacher at Star of the Sea in SF. She was fabulous! I adored her no nonsense approach and she was so smart. She dressed to the nines and had a great sense of humor. She was a gem.
