Lydia Mendes Obituary
"January 23, 1929 - January 22, 2015"
Our mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend went peacefully just one day before her birthday on January 22, 2015, she was surrounded by loving family members in her loving home of 67 years.Lydia was born at home on January 23, 1929 in San Francisco, California to Felicia and Francisco Luna, were she lived her entire life. She married Bob Mendes on January 3, 1948 and had three children, family was the focus of her life. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
The door was always open for family and friends at Lydia's home. She will be remembered for her beautiful smile, her tasty dishes, especially enchiladas, and her passion for the San Francisco 49ers and the San Francisco Giants!
She is survived by her loving husband, Bob Mendes, her three children, Debra Mendes Giusto RN (Thomas Giusto), Ronald (Roc) Mendes (Teddy Ramsden), Katherine (Kat) Mendes (Jackie Sowle), granddaughters Dominique and Alaina, great granddaughter Raven, as well as many nieces, nephews, friends, and extended family.
Friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass on Friday, January 30 at 10AM at Corpus Christi Church, 62 Santa Rosa Ave., SF and are also invited to attend a Celebration of her life on Saturday, January 31 at 2PM at the chapels of Valente Marini Perata and Co., 4840 Mission St., SF.
