Marie Denevi Obituary

Marie Rose (Scramaglia) Denevi

Marie Rose (Scramaglia) Denevi passed away in San Francisco on Sunday November 27, 2016 surrounded by her loving family. Marie was born in San Francisco on July 23, 1931 the first of three children to Joseph and Margaret Scramaglia and was very proud of her Italian heritage and relished activities with the local village girls. Raised in San Francisco, Marie maintained lifelong friendships with many of her classmates from Presentation High School.

During High School Marie worked for JCPenneys and one of her favourite stories was telling how it took her 2 hours to get home from work when the end of WW2 was announced. As a 14 year old girl all the young men kissing the girls scared her into getting off the street car and running home with her friend (future sister in law) Annie.

In 1950 Marie married William L. Denevi (deceased). Marie and Willie were active travelers making numerous trips with the Stationary Engineers Local 39, the Ferrari car club, and many family events. Marie was always fiercely independent, loved travelling and in her later years enjoyed the casinos with her daughters and brother.

Marie was a volunteer at Kaiser Hospital in San Francisco for 20 years and found a great sense of purpose in helping families and patients get through difficult stays in the hospital.

Marie is survived by her devoted daughter Christine and partner Leann, her brother Phillip, many loving nephews, nieces and cherished friends. She was preceded in death by her loving brother Joseph.

Visitation at Duggan's Mortuary, 500 Westlake Avenue, Daly City, CA 94014 which begins at 4pm on December 6th followed by a Rosary at 6pm.
