So grateful for 35 years together. From Day 1, Marilyn was always gracious, kind, supportive, and patient, with many occasional insights and zingers on aside. I have been lucky to claim her as mother-in-law. I so miss our wonderful conversations sharing passions of family, music, travel, gardening, and home-making. Much appreciation and thank you to the Larkin Girls; you are fierce.

Marilyn was always a class act.
Funny with a quick wit and
protected her daughters with a fire.
You hear about a persons aura
and then you see one. There are
few that are bigger than life. I have
been on her good and bad side
throughout the years. I never
regretted our conversations.
Mine maybe but never hers.
She raised beautiful powerful
women and they all have Marilyn
to thank and so do I. She will be
missed.

Aunt Marilyn was a font of cultural sophistication and professional encouragement for all who had the good fortune to meet her. I am particularly grateful to her for doing the difficult work of strengthening bonds with extended family. It's a fairly well-worn passage from Larkin family history that three Bay Area sons born into the grocery trade had the good fortune in the 1950s and '60s to be accepted by three exceptionally intelligent, hard working and beautiful women. Although two of those marriages ended in divorce after nineteen years, aunts Marilyn and MaryAnn and my mother shared a determination to strengthen ties with the Larkin family so that wounds could heal and cousins could get to know each other. I will always remember those twinkling blue eyes and quick wit that put everybody at ease at luncheons, receptions, and services in the 1980s and '90s. And then, of course, there is her laughter. Aunt Marilyn has left a timeless legacy of forgiveness and love.

Marilyn and I were good friends for many years. We were both November babies and I will miss celebrating our birthday month together. We would go out to lunch and enjoy a special meal, talking about our families and, most especially, her special love for her four daughters. Rest in peace my friend. May your memory be a blessing. I will miss you always. Love, Marlene

Mrs. Larkin, (later Kugelgen), was the mother of my best friend, Roberta, while growing up in Piedmont. She was beautiful, and elegant with a full command of the English language and a very sharp wit. I can still remember the things she said to us that made us laugh then, and still make me laugh. She managed to put up with her teenage daughter and her friends antics with grace and aplomb. She raised four beautiful and accomplished daughters, mostly on her own. I will miss her deeply, and never forget her. My heartfelt sympathies to her family and friends.
