We're deeply grieved at the passing away of our dearly beloved Marion Floyd "Silky" Sullivan. He departed February 12, 2014. Mr. Sullivan, was a cornerstone of the Sullivan Family. He was one of the last pioneers in San Francisco's musical entertainment history. The Sullivans, were led by the family patriarch Charles Sullivan along with his younger brother, protégé and right hand man Marion. Together they left a widely recognized and indelible mark on San Francisco as music entertainment gurus. They were proprietors of the now world renown Fillmore Auditorium which opened in 1955; more than a decade before Bill Graham. Although short in stature, Mr. Sullivan was a prodigious giant in terms of character, mind and determination. A devoted family man extraordinaire, he continued to support and inspire his loved ones to the last breath. Mr. Sullivan served his country honorably during the Korean War from 1950 – 1952. He was a San Francisco municipal transit operator for 30 years and retired in 1992. Marion "Silky" Sullivan is survived by wife Fatima Sullivan, brother Richard Sullivan, sons Greg Sullivan, Kevin Sullivan, Damon Sullivan, Marlon Sullivan, Rudolph Lacey, daughter Debbie Sullivan, 14 grand children and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
The funeral services will be held on Monday, February 24, 2014 at Bethel AME Church, 916 Laguna St. (near Golden Gate) at 1PM.
