Marcy and Annalisa - I was saddened to learn of Marty's passing. My late husband, Richard Bechelli, thought the world of him and fondly remembered that famous drug store with the soda fountain. It was a Marina landmark. My prayers are with you. Marty will long be remembered not only for his service with the SFPD but for his outgoing and friendly style.
God bless you all.

I used to see Marty everyday at the Hall of Justice. I always addressed him as Inspector, out of respect, and he always corrected me and said to call him "Marty", but I never could. A true class act from the Good Old Days of San Francisco. Rest easy, Inspector. You will be missed by many.

I am truly sad to read about Marty and surprised as it seems like it was just yesterday that I saw him either at the Hall or at another funeral. Marty was one of the nicest inspectors at the HOJ who was so helpful in answering all of my questions on cases. He would always drop whatever he was doing to assist. I am glad I had the opportunity to work with him as he is a legend and a really good man. I just hope he was able to enjoy some of his retirement as it seemed he was always working!

When there are no words to soften the pain, may your spirit be touched by the love that surrounds you and your fondest memories of Martin.

Our deepest condolences, Marcy and Annalisa. Marty was legendary to folks everywhere: in the Marina, in North Beach, at SFPD, our "Scoutmaster" at Sexual Assault Detail and beyond. I have met officers throughout California who had met and fondly remembered Marty and would ask about him. He will be sorely missed but remembered for a long, long time.

I am so fortunate to have known Marty a truly fine gentleman. On November 4, 2010 we both sat with a Story Corps producer who wanted to interview two long time officers about San Francisco. Needless to say Marty dominated the interview because he was San Francisco. He will be truly missed.

I had the pleasure of working with Marty for a few years. He always had a good joke or something nice to say. Never a bad word or ill comment.
He was ALWAYS sharply dressed and well groomed.
I remember Marty would come to GW and try to argue the case was ours.
We always loved seeing Marty.
God Bless you my friend.
