Mary DeBattista Obituary

Mary DeBattista A resident of San Bruno for 42 years, entered into rest Dec. 30, 2010 at the age of 89 years. She was the beloved wife of Joseph (Giuseppe) DeBattista for 58 years until his passing in 2006. Mary is survived by son Joseph, his wife Libby of Belmont, CA and grandchildren, Gracie and Danny; son John and his wife Anna of San Jose, CA; son Manuel, his wife Anne of Emerald Hills, CA and grandchildren, Jayne and Brad; daughter Catherine of San Bruno, CA; son Charles, his wife Sandra of Belmont, CA and grandchildren, Kristina and Juliana; and son Tony, his wife Cory of San Bruno, CA and grandchildren, Annamarie and Owen Amurao, Deanna Lopez, and Lauren. She is also survived by her brother Joe Micallef in Malta as well as many nieces and nephews in Malta, United States and Australia. Mary was a devoted daughter to John and Concetta Micallef and was predeceased by a sister, Ellen. A native of Paola, Malta, Mary emigrated with her husband Joe in 1952. They settled in the Bayview District of San Francisco and later moved to San Bruno. She diligently raised her six children and took great pride in the successful and productive men and women they became. She was blessed with an indomitable spirit and was able to overcome adversity with dignity and grace. She relished the time spent with her grandchildren and was able to meet her first great-grandchild, Hayden. Mary was a member of St. Robert's parish in San Bruno for over 40 years. The family wishes to thank Nana's loving caregivers - Cari, Lerma, Loretta ("Rose") and Luz - for their excellent support, kindness and friendship. To celebrate Mary's life, there will be Visitation commencing at 5PM, with a Vigil and Rosary at the CHAPEL OF THE HIGHLANDS, 194 Millwood Dr. at El Camino Real in Millbrae on Thursday January 6, at 7 PM. A Funeral Mass will be at St. Robert's Catholic Church, 1380 Crystal Springs Road in San Bruno on Friday, January 7th at 10:30 A.M. followed by committal at Holy Cross Cemetery in Colma, CA. Family and friends are welcome to attend the Services. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital (www.stjude.org).
