Mary Tolan Obituary

Mary Teresa Tolan

October 1, 1923 - November 27, 2014

A native of New York City and long time resident of San Francisco, Mary passed away at CPMC Hospital, Davies on November 27, 2014 after a brief illness. She was 91. She was a beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and Friend.
Mary is survived by her Daughter Lee Lucay and her husband Pat, Son Michael and his wife Siobhán.
Her Grandchildren are Joy Andrus, Seán Tolan , Colleen Tolan.
Her Great Grandchildren, who will always know her as "GG" and whom she cherished are Annie, Wyatt , and Elisa.
While Mary was "retired" for many years, she never stopped working. She volunteered with many groups most notably, Most Holy Redeemer Aids Support Group where she was a fixture for over 2 decades. The Most Holy Redeemer community was a special and wonderful place for her and she would brave the elements and Muni to have her special seat every week among the congregation that she loved.

Her sense of humor and independent nature made her a one of a kind person who will be remembered by all who were fortunate enough to have met her. Her spirit of optimism and zest for life will be the guiding principles that will stay with us while we celebrate her life.
In Lieu of flowers, donations in her name to the Most Holy Redeemer Aids Support Group (http://mhr-asg.com/) would help to continue spreading her love with a group she was devoted to.
Services will be held at Most Holy Redeemer Church at 100 Diamond Street in San Francisco at 11 am on Saturday the 13th of December 2014.

Mary was such a classy lady both inside and out; she was a good person with a good heart. She always took great pride in her appearance, and had a kind word with her cute sense of humor. My deepest sympathy to her family. I'm sure Mary is quite the "fashion plate" in heaven. We will miss you at MHR.

Mary was one of my favorite parishners at MHR. I waited for her every Sunday to give her a hug and told her that I loved her. I will miss her and know that she is in heaven watching over all of us. God bless you Mary and I love you.
