Mary Wong Obituary

Mary A. Wong
10/02/1928 - 05/08/2024
Mary Wong, born in Seattle, Wash., passed away peacefully on May 8, 2024. She was the beloved wife of Benton K. Wong, with whom she shared 68 years of marriage. Mary was born to Way Main Yee (father) and Chin Shi Yee (mother). She was raised in Seattle, where she attended elementary school through high school.
Following high school, Mary moved to San Francisco, where she met her (future) husband, Ben. Mary was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She will be remembered for the wonderful care she provided to her in-laws, and her active engagement in her children's education and school activities, including the PTA, Girl Scouts, Blue Birds, Boy Scouts, sports events, etc. Once all her children completed middle-school, Mary studied to become a Legal Secretary for the State of California – a job she held for many years. When not working, Mary loved to bake, play Mahjong, crochet, volunteer at the local senior center and shop at the local shopping malls.
Mary will be remembered by her family and friends as a 'caring and giving' individual – thoughtful, kind and wise – with a huge heart, always thinking about and doing for others.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Benton K. Wong. She is survived by her four children, Alison Fujii, Stuart Wong, Wendy Lee Myatt, and Sandy Wong; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Mary is also survived by her sister, Doris Namba.
A celebration of life will be held for immediate family.

My most sincere condolences to Mary´s family. I worked with Mary at the State Attorney General´s office until our office split up after the 1989 earthquake. She was the sweetest person always wonderful to talk to.
