Matthew Zimmer Obituary

With a heavy heart, we are mourning the loss of an incredible soul. Matthew Robert Zimmer was born August 6th, 1983 to George and Donna and passed on November 21st, 2016.From a young age it was clear that Matt had a love for animals, music, education, his home in Oakland, Judaism, and intellectual growth. These pursuits kept him busy and fueled his drive for answers in a curious world.
After his time at Bentley School his undying love for his faith and for Israel led him to enlisting in the Israeli Army. Although his service was short, he continued his efforts online relentlessly defending the one and only Jewish State. He was a voracious intellect and could have a heated discussion regarding politics, Star Wars, or The Lord of The Rings. He faithfully valued a good book and a great cup of coffee.
He is survived by his father George, mother Donna, siblings Sarah, Andy, Kai, Kami, stepfather Chad and stepmother Lorri. His generosity, humor, and intellect will be surly missed by all. Rest in peace and may peace be at rest in you.
A memorial service will be held at Mountain View Cemetery, 5000 Piedmont Ave, Oakland, CA on Wednesday, November 30th at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in honor of Matt to ARF for rescue dogs, as his love for them held a special place in his heart.
