Meredith Pechoultres, age 81, passed away from cancer on July 21st, 2025. She is survived by her husband of 44 years Bob Pechoultres, her brother Charles Hedrick and his wife Ann, numerous nieces and nephews, and a host of relatives and friends who will dearly miss her. Meredith was admired for her grace, beauty, athletic prowess and plethora of talents. Born in Washington, D.C., she attended the National Cathedral School and obtained a bachelor's degree from The George Washington University. Her life took a westward turn in 1975 when she visited a friend in San Francisco and liked it so much that she never returned to Washington, D.C., not even to pack up her things. An early job as the head of Delta Steamship Company's passenger division and her natural curiosity took her to many countries and blessed her with a wealth of far-flung experiences. Meredith went on to obtain a Master's Degree in Spanish and education from Dominican University of California, and taught Spanish. She swam with her fellow master swimmers on Tamalpais Aquatic Swim Team 320 as they notched 3 national freestyle relay records. She sang with the Lighthouse Singers Gospel Choir and the St. Nicholas Orthodox Church choir, and urged her cherished golden retrievers on to master hunting titles alongside her tightly-knit training group. Beloved by all, she will be laid to rest at Mt. Tamalpais Cemetery after a private funeral. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made payable to La Société Française de Bienfaisance Mutuelle de San Francisco (210 Post Street, Suite 401, San Francisco, CA 94108) and will be allocated to the Meredith Pechoultres Endowment Fund. A celebration of Meredith's life will be held at a later date at the Presidio Golf & Concordia Club.
