Michael Sugarman

Michael N. Sugarman June 30, 1955 - Feb. 6, 2011 Michael died at home in San Francisco peacefully after living with cancer for five years. Born and raised in Ohio, Michael graduated from Grinnell College in Iowa with a BA in Classics. He moved to San Francisco in 1977, earned a BS in Engineering from SF State University and pursued a Masters degree from Stanford. Engineering was a source of great satisfaction and pleasure to Michael, who served on the SFSU Engineering Advisory board for several years and also acted as a mentor to many "new engineers. He started his career at Fairchild Industries, was a longtime employee of Applied Materials and spent the last five years with Novellus Systems in San Jose. We will miss his kindness, generosity, intelligence and sense of humor. He is survived by his wife Pam, daughter Zosha, sisters Jenn Sugarman of Philadelphia and Deb Sugarman of Princeton, NJ and his beloved faithful canine companions Cookie and Savannah. In lieu of flowers please take a walk with a dog, ride a bike or send a donation to the Michael Sugarman Memorial Scholarship in Engineering at SFSU.
