Michael Verducci
Michael Philip Verducci passed away peacefully on August 22, 2024 at Mills Peninsula Medical Center, surrounded by family and loved ones. He was 74 years old.
Mike was born on April 3, 1950, to loving parents Frank Paul Verducci Sr. and Lenore Joann Verducci at Stanford University Hospital in San Francisco. The family later moved to South San Francisco, where Mike grew up with his siblings Jack, James, Frank Jr.,Marianne and David. Mike excelled in sports from a young age, eventually earning all-conference honors in football while also wrestling at South San Francisco High School. He also showed a strong aptitude for science and math, leading him to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Structural Engineering from Cogswell College, before enlisting in the Army, where he earned the rank of Sergeant.
His professional career was as varied as his interests. He spent five years traveling the country working as an engineer for production and manufacturing facilities. Later, he joined the family business, serving as the Sales Manager for Serramonte Ford, where he received numerous accolades, including Sales Manager of the Year in 1989. Mike also became a business owner, operating his own Acc-u-Tune and Brake shop in Hayward. He closed out his professional career with over 20 years of service at Varian Medical Systems, where he assisted with the design and installation of cancer treatment equipment around the world.
Not content to serve only through his professional work, Mike had a long and rich history of service in his free time. Most notably, he dedicated over 40 years to the Boy Scouts of America, earning many recognitions, including the Silver Beaver Award for his "hard work, self-sacrifice, dedication, and many years of service." Mike combined his faith and service as an active member of Catholic Scouting, including involvement in the Ad Altare Dei program. His Catholic faith was deeply rooted, and St. Pius Catholic Church was his home parish. Here, Mike not only attended Mass but also served in the Grief Ministry, a cause close to his heart after losing his eldest son, Michael Anthony Verducci, in 2007. Mike was also an avid outdoorsman, who loved fishing and was a season ticket holder for the San Francisco 49ers.
Mike was loved by many and was affectionately known as "Uncle Mike" by both family and friends. He is survived by his son, Richard Verducci, daughter-in-law Katie Verducci, and his granddaughter, Ileana Verducci. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Boy Scouts of America or St. Pius Catholic Church in Mike's memory.
Friends may visit after 5:00pm, Wednesday, September 18th at Duggan's Serra Mortuary, 500 Westlake Avenue, Daly City where a memorial vigil will be held at 6:00pm.
