Mickie Ochi Obituary

Mickie Ochi
07/10/1930 - 07/24/2025
Mickie Ochi died peacefully on July 24, surrounded by family–children Ed, Jim, and Diane; granddaughters Claire and Katie Tsuji; and son-in-law Lyle Tsuji. She is also survived by siblings Jim Hiwano and Jane Yamasaki. Born Miyuki Hiwano on July 10, 1930 in Armona, CA, she spent her early teens in Jerome, AR and Heart Mountain, WY, part of the wartime mass incarceration of Japanese Americans. In 1955 she married the late Shun Ochi and settled in San Francisco, where they raised their children and she worked as an administrative assistant at UCSF. Mickie enjoyed eating out, travel, ikebana, garden work, her cat Mina, and her family. She stayed active in her church group well into her 80s. A memorial will be held at 11 am on Saturday, August 23 at the Buddhist Church of San Francisco, 1881 Pine Street. No flowers or gifts, please. [email protected]
