Milton Stevens Obituary

Milton L. Stevens, "Steve"

Feb. 7, 1923 - Aug. 7, 2013

Steve was born in Albion, California to Edith Decker and John Stevens. The family returned to San Francisco in Steve's first months. He attended Marshall Elementary and Edison Jr High. He signed up for the Navy immediately after graduation from Mission High in January of 1941. After his stint in the Navy, he met and married his first wife, Elizabeth Buckley and they welcomed their only child, June. He enjoyed working as a delivery driver for 7Up for several years. He went on to work as a city gardener at Stern Grove and for SFUSD for 20 years. In his retirement he enjoyed fishing, the horse races and road trips to Reno all while rooting for the San Francisco Giants and 49ers. Steve spent his last day surrounded by family and friends and passed peacefully at home. He was a devoted father and loving grandfather and great-grandfather. Predeceased by his daughter, he is survived by his granddaughter, Stephanie Ugrin, and great-grandson, Zachary Solomon. The family is planning a private memorial.
