Moe Nakamura Obituary

Moe C. Nakamura Moe (Momo) left this world by an auto accident in the Sierra Mountains on July 28, 2006. She was survived by her parents, Toru and Miyako, and brother, Yosuke. She was born in Darien, Connecticut on December 21, 1987. At the age of 7, she moved to San Francisco with her parents. Momo graduated from Hamlin School and Lick-Wilmerding High School. After eight years with the San Francisco Girls Chorus, she made many friends and became a cross-country runner. A volunteer for Japan Community Youth Council, Momo was about to study psychology at UC Irvine to explore the world of counseling in September. A gathering to celebrate her 18 years of life will be held during 4 pm to 6 pm on August 18 at Forrest Hill Association, 381 Magellan Avenue, San Francisco. Momo, we will miss you.

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Nakamura,

My deepest sympathy to your family for your tragic loss. I was in the San Francisco Girl's Chorus with Momo for a few years and remember her energetic contribution to the group. My sister is a seventh grader at Hamlin and remembers Momo fondly as well.

Very truly yours,

Julia

I was so sorry to hear about your daughter's death and I send you my condolences. I am going to be a sophmore this year at Lick and like Momo, I attended Hamlin. She was one of the first Hamlin alums to recognize me from Hamlin and welcome me to Lick.

The day my family heard of Momo's passing brought tears to our eyes.

May you find peace and comfort during this difficult time.

I knew Momo from a youth council (JCYC) we both attended to. It hurts that I never got to know her well enough, and now I won't ever have the chance to. Momo was a bright person. The one thing my friends and I remember about her the most, is her everlasting smile.

It was unbelievable when I first heard the news. To this day I don't believe it and hope that this is all a lie and Momo is hiding.

Momo, you won't be forgotten. You were, and still are, a wonderful person and a inspiration to us at JCYC. Keep smiling up there.

Dear Miyako:

My daughter, Molly Hendler, used to play soccer with Momo on "The Blue Stars" for years. I always enjoyed being on the sidelines with you and Molly and I send you and your family our utmost condolences.

Dearest Family,

As I said in the cards, our family greives with you for the loss of your darling daughter. Did you know that our youngest daugher, Morgan is called "Momo" as well? So, we have a special empathy for the namesake. May God bless you with comfort somehow--that indeed would be a mirace.

I am so so sorry. I did not know her - I do have teenage kids. My heart goes out to family and friends.

While serving as the Hospital Chaplain at Tahoe Forest Hospital, I was called to minister to Momo's three friends who were in the car with her. Your family remains in my thoughts and prayers. May God wrap His comforting arms around you.

A beautiful girl like Moe must have been called to God for a special purpose. We need to be aware of her presence around us as she comes to offer us help and council. May God bless her a lead her to help us all.
