Moira McGuinness Obituary

Moira S. McGuinness

Moira S. McGuinness passed peacefully at home in La Quinta, CA on October 27th, 2020. A native San Franciscan, born on St. Patrick's Day a few moons ago...

Moira, a beautiful woman inside and out, she carried an effortless sense of strength and grace. Moira possessed a captivating sense of humor and a keen dry wit. Always elegant, and a fiercely loyal friend to many, she will be missed.

Predeceased by her late husband, Ted Llewellyn, she is survived by her brother Joe McGuinness, her sister Sheila McGuinness Maybry, and their families. She leaves a devoted Jack Russell, Duffy.

Per Moira's request, there will be no services.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Limbs for Life Foundation 9604 N. May Ave. Oklahoma City at www.limbsforlife.org

Sheila & Joe,
My deepest heartfelt condolences on the loss of Moira. She was my friend here in La Quinta for the past 30 years. One of the most beautiful, elegant and witty persons I have ever known. She bravely endured the loss of her beloved Ted, whom Mike and I absolutely adored, and the the physical & health challenges of the past 2 years. She will always remain in our hearts!

"Death leaves a heartache no one can heal; Love leaves a memory no one can steal."

To Joe and Sheila,
I am heartbroken. Moira provided me her steadfast Irish love through the death of my mom and brother. Her love was undying and her stubbornness was fierce. And her wit sharp. She fought so hard to maintain her independence through all the challenges that came before her. She was so much like her mom, but even more so. An elegant, magnificent woman and dear friend. I will never forget the opening line of every phone call that we shared on Sunday afternoons, "Hi Sweetie. What's new?"
With deepest sorrow,
Libby
"May the Irish hills caress you.

May her lakes and rivers bless you.

May the luck of the Irish enfold you.

May the blessings of

Saint Patrick behold you."

Joe and Sheila,
I am so sorry for your loss. Moira was an amazing person and I have so many wonderful memories of us growing up together. She was always graceful, just like her mom. Take care of Duffy. I remember how she loved Pickles and the rest of the animal crew.

Truly an amazing woman!

I met her in 79 after Joe's graduation from college and she was incredibly elegant then and perfectly kind.

She was absolutely her mother's daughter.

To: Joe and Sheila

I'm so sorry for your loss. I am shocked and saddened to hear the news of Moira's passing. Your sister was a positive force of nature, massively impacting my callow youth. I remember her--and will remember her always--as cool and fun and beautiful.

I wish all the best to you and your families. I know how hard this must be. Take good care of Duffy (mention of whom reminds me of the beloved Pickles!)

Dearest cousin, I am heartbroken. As kids we were summer sidekicks at 51 Sotelo or at the Russian River. And, while one might expect there would be similarities between the children of two sisters born only a month apart in the very same hospital, sadly, for me, this was not the case. You were beauty and grace and breathtaking to behold. I, despite lacking the requisite attributes, aspired to be just like you. You were my lodestar growing up. Gone now from this earthly place, I will search for you in the night sky
