Nancy Wardlow Obituary

Nancy L. Wardlow (Cooke) May 25, 1935 - February 17, 2007 Went home to Our Lord after a hard-fought battle with pancreatic cancer. She died peacefully at home in the city that she adored surrounded by her loving family. Born in West Virginia; Nancy lived and raised her family throughout the United States during her life including Nebraska, Alaska, Illinois, New Mexico, Virginia, Texas, Florida, Kansas and Missouri. While living in these many places Nancy never met a stranger. She moved to San Francisco in 2001, a city she fell in love with on her first visit in 1964, and enjoyed every moment of her time here. Nancy was predeceased by her loving husband Duane. She was a wonderful mother and is survived by her three children: Michael and wife Sarah; Victoria; and Thomas and partner, Brad Crawford; five well-loved grandchildren: Heather and husband Matthew; Lauren; Melissa; Francisco; and Joey; great granddaughters, Savannah and Shelby; brother, Edward and sister, Hattie; many beloved nieces and nephews and countless friends. Nancy loved and respected people regardless of their own situations in life and set an incredible example of kindness and compassion - truly living by the Golden Rule. She also had the most marvelous sense of the joy of life and fun that affected everyone she touched during her life. Family and friends may visit Monday (TODAY) at SULLIVAN'S FUNERAL HOME, 2254 Market St., bet. Noe and Sanchez Sts, from 4PM to 7PM, and are invited to attend a Funeral Liturgy, Tuesday at 1PM at St. Thomas Anglican Church, 2725 Sacramento St., SF. Private Committal. The family requests that a donation to St. Thomas Church in Nancy's memory be made in lieu of flowers.

I was fortunate enough to meet Nancy in July while visiting my sister Margarert in San Francisco. Nancy and Margaret were neighbors and became fast friends immediatly after they met. She was such a delight to meet and has been such a wonderful, loving friend to my sister and I know Margaret will miss her dearly. You are all in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
