In San Francisco, Thursday August 18, Patrick Scholl Driscoll unexpectedly passed away. A 5th generation San Franciscan, Pat applied his Irish humor in filmmaking and songwriting. While at Lincoln High School, Pat won the Bay Area's Best Young Filmmaker award for his film "Sam Simeon: Private Eye". Other short comedy films parodying TV shows and TV commercials won awards at the Palo Alto Film Festival and the Berkeley Film Festival and were shown on KQED TV. His songwriting also featured his comedic skills as he poked fun at targets including the '70's King Tut craze, the gold-chain-wearing Casanova's of the disco scene and modern sexual mores. For many years Pat struggled with health problems and yet took wonderful care of his beloved grandmother for many years and continued to pursue his interests in music and in film. Pat was an acutely sensitive and compassionate person who quietly and generously gave many acts of kindness to family, friends and neighbors. In 1997 Pat married his wife, Jeannie and enjoyed 19 wonderful years with Jeannie and their dogs. Preceded in death by his parents, James and Esther Driscoll and by his grandmother, Emily Driscoll, he is survived by his wife, Jeannie, and his brother, Bill.To plant trees in memory, please visit the Sympathy Store.

Pat was a genuinely talented and creative person, and he was always so patient with me who was neither. I would look forward to being in his presence, hoping some of it would rub off on me. And he made us all laugh. My life is better because of Pat.
