Raymond Combs Obituary

Raymond Elmer Combs, Jr. Born October 5, 1932 in Oakland, CA, to Lucy Widmark and Raymond Elmer Combs, Sr. A professional winemaker and respected Alaska Native (Tlingit) leader, he served eight years in a high-level post in the Reagan administration. He died August 3, 2006, age 73, at his home in San Francisco from complications of pulmonary disease. He is survived by his three children, his former wife and close friend, and four grandchildren, all of Santa Rosa; and his sister Janet McVicar and family in Walnut Creek. A celebration of life is planned for August 27, 3:30 p.m., St. Mary's Cathedral, 1111 Gough Street, SF.

"Full of life, a loving and generous man" He was always full of wit, smiles, and smart talk about just about anything. A fair man, he will be missed by many. One tall tree less (the elders are for me as "tall trees" they have seen much, and are wise)
