Raymond Roy Obituary

Raymond Lawrence Roy II
October 2, 1950 - January 21, 2022
On January 21, 2022, we lost a legend, Raymond Lawrence Roy II, of Petaluma, California. He was born on October 2, 1950, in South Bend, Indiana. Ray was a 1968 Graduate of Mt. Tam High School, in Marin County. He was the owner of Village Cellars Wine Shop, at the Village Fair, Sausalito, California in the 1970's; and then he became the owner of Lighting Express Motorcycle Messenger Service in San Francisco, in the early 1990's.
He is survived by his Partner, Ruth Waltrip; Daughter, Elisabeth G. Roy, Son, Raymond L. Roy III, Grandchildren, Nevaeh, Nikita and Nash, his extended family and plethora of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond L. Roy, and Geraldine Roy; (Stepmother) Nina Roy and Brother Kevin Roy.
For all of us that knew Ray, we can find solace knowing he has gained his wings and is now riding the streets of Heaven on two-wheels, sharing that award winning smile with all, as he pushes the speedometer into the triple digits.
Ray was an avid motorcyclist and bicyclist and enjoyed anything where he could be outside, active, and going as fast as the speed of light. He enjoyed his cabin in Lake County and hosted many memorable motorcycle rides from there. He was a long-standing member of the Marin County Motorcycle Association, East Bay Motor-Bros, AFM, AMA, District 36, Nor-Cal Club and AYU. He was the organizer for the yearly Garberville Spa Enduro, and Sponsor of the Cabo 1,000. For decades, Ray enjoyed the infamous "Sunday Morning Ride" through Marin County. He also sponsored and organized many motorcycle rides all over Mexico and the United States. Ray traveled the world on two-wheels, and this was his Heaven on Earth. Ray was a unique individual with a huge presence in life, that will never be forgotten.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked to please make a donation in Ray's honor to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Shriners Children's Nor-Cal Hospital.
A celebration of life will be announced for later this year.

It has been over a year that my old High School friend Ray Roy has passed. Today on Valentine's Day must be extremely difficult for Ray,s family. It is also the most perfect day to express our love, respect, and admiration for Ray in our lives. Ray you will always be loved by us all. Oh my God I just felt the wind of you going by as you just blasted through that tight turn Bro. The Goose

The previous comments by Ray's family and friend's I sure appreciate, understand, and love. We did indeed lose a wonderful human being. Unique, enjoyable, and adventurous. I first met Ray as a Sophmore at Tamalpais High School in Mill Valley in 1966. Became friend's but I was not a motorcycle enthusiast/legend like Ray. He always called me " Goose." Not sure why but I liked it. He liked me even though I didn't share his motorcycle riding/trips with him. He led own life and respected and enjoyed people. He was laid back but knew how to organize and get things done. I sure enjoyed the family pictures you shared Elizabeth. Ray will be missed by me. I have very fond memories especially our last two years of High School. Also loved our three High School Reunion meetings. Keep blasting in and out of those tight turns Ray. YOU DA MAN BRO!

Rip it in peace
Braaaaap!
Truly an inspiration and I am thankful to have had the great joy of joining you on many of the most epic adventures which were not just rides or trips but true tests of spirit, and indeed beyond what even comes in dreams. Sending our love for all who were gifted with these experiences guided by Ray truly special. Thank you also for the many warm and humor filled chats we shared whether out in some forest or just on the gambonini ranch heck even at the coffee shop in mill valley.
