Renee McHugh Obituary

Renee McHugh
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Renee McHugh, a beloved wife, mother, friend, and extraordinary teacher. Renee passed away peacefully on July 13th, 2025 from complications due to Alzheimer's disease, two days after her 44th wedding anniversary. She is survived by her devoted husband, Michael McHugh; her cherished children, Danielle and Casey McHugh and their partners Joshua and Nicole; her brother and sister-in-law, Keith and Molly Wardell; and an adored group of nieces, nephews, friends, and grand-dogs. Renee was born January 8th,1953 as a fourth generation San Franciscan, growing up in the Mission District. She proudly earned two degrees from UC Berkeley and spent her career as a beloved teacher for over 30 years with the Archdiocese of San Francisco serving at Epiphany School, Mission Dolores, St. Brigid, and St. Brendan. She loved teaching, dogs, Cobb Mtn, natural disaster movies, and bad sci fi tv. In her last years Renee was cared for by the Dolby Brain Clinic and Buena Vista Manor House. We would like to express our gratitude for the extraordinary care and comfort that the doctors and staff provided her and her family. There is no immediate service planned and private internment will be at a later date.

Michael, Michelle, and Casey: we are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of "Mrs. McHugh", a truly remarkable teacher who left a lasting impact on our family. One of our favorite memories was during one of the Festival´s children´s games: Renee and Michael in their socks jousting to knock the other off the beam. They were doubled over with laughing and the crowd was cheering them on! To our fellow Cobb Mountain friend: Rest in Peace.
