Reynold Nelson Obituary

Reynold B. Nelson Born 9/18/19 in Berkeley, CA, passed into eternal life at his home in Albany 7/10/2010. "Rey" graduated from Berkeley High School in 1927, served in the Merchant Marines during World War II, and worked as a union carpenter in the Bay Area for over 40 years. He was an avid outdoorsman and a devoted, husband, father and grandfather. He was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church, Richmond Rod & Gun Club, Kaleva Ski Club, Retired Carpenters, and San Pablo Avenue Sportsmen's Club. Healthy and active to his last day, Rey died in his sleep after reloading shotgun shells to go skeet shooting the following day with his grandson Ben. He was well known in the Albany area for riding his electric scooter up and down San Pablo Ave. First to share Breakfast with his friends at Mc Donald's, and then to visit his wife Bettie at her Alzheimer's facility in El Cerrito where he would feed her lunch. He leaves behind: Bettie, his wife of 63 years, his sister Ruth Nelson, son Erik Nelson. Daughter-in-law Lynn Nelson, daughter Gretchen Ezaki, son-in-law Ed Ezaki, and grandchildren: Ben Ezaki, Brittany Nelson, John Ezaki, Amy Ezaki and Christian Nelson. A memorial service is scheduled for 11 am, August 9, 2010 at Grace Lutheran Church in El Cerrito, CA. We love you grandpa, you will be sorely missed.
