Capt Pohli was my Skipper at NAVSUPPACT Treasure Island. He was an outstanding leader. He cared about the people that he commanded. He was extremely fair, and he provided guidance for young sailors like myself who were looking for direction. My condolences to his family. God Bless yall.
Rest In Peace, Captain Pohli.

Captain Dick Pohli was the best CO I had in my 27 year Navy Career. I looked him up just today, September 7, 2016, and learned that he passed away in 2011. I still miss him. I was his First Lieutenant aboard USS Eversole (DD-789) in 1968. After retirement in 1996, I went on to graduate from law school and I still practice law here in Seattle. I first learned professionalism from observing Dick Pohli in action. A truly great man married to a wonderful woman.

I knew Dick through the Alliance to Save Our Hospital. His contributions to our cause were both tireless and effective. He will be greatly missed as a friend and a collaborator. I expend my deeply felt sympathy to his loved ones for their loss.

I graduated high school at the American Embassy School in New Delhi with Dick's daughter, Kris, my best friend. I was graciously welcomed in the Polhi home anytime and when there I found a fatherly figure in Dick and a nurturing mother in Jean. I will always have wonderful memories of those times and fondly remember how loving and kind they were to me when my own family was so far away.

My thoughts and sympathy are with the family.

Captain Pohli was My CO at Treasure Island in the 1970s. I reported directly to him and knew I could always count on his support, leadership and dedication to the Navy and his country. I will also remember many great times at he and Jeans home on TI where they were both gracious and loving hosts. Captain Pohli will be missed.
